Fellow Community Members and Guests:
Since GarageFuse launched in Private Beta approximately 2 months ago, the team has received an incredible amount of feedback from our beta testers. Your comments have been instrumental to our efforts in providing the most advanced 3D car configuration platform that currently exists on the web, and we proudly deliver this technology at absolutely zero cost to you. As we’ve communicated directly with many of our members regarding the User Experience of the platform, we are pleased to announce several core configurator updates that our team has tirelessly been working on.
What we’ve observed:
There have been a few primary concerns amongst Beta users regarding the configurator experience. One of them, and most notably, being loading times. There are two user actions that conceivably require the most amount of time to process and they are: the initial configuration load, and accessing a new vehicle. Now, we also know that there are two key variables that are predominantly responsible for delivering various load times on the user end: bandwidth and computer processing power (mainly the Graphical Processing Unit). Additionally, each GarageFuse 3D car model is composed of several hundred thousand polygons in order to produce an incredibly rich, visual appeal to users. This feature is unique to our platform because of the high quality content we are able to stream, but it does impact general loading times.
The team's response:
In order to alleviate this concern, our team has been working on a major performance update to the core engine. We project that this will cut loading times by an estimated 50% which will be due to the implementation of our new binary storage format. Additionally, the update will also enhance the visual appearance of each car by digitally replicating the 2-coat paint configuration (base/clear coats), and create a more dramatic lighting arrangement with deeper contrast shown in the garage environment. We expect this update to be finalized and integrated by the end of February, of which you will surely be notified.
We have several other exciting developments in the pipeline and we will inform the community accordingly. We thank our users for their continued support and, as always, welcome your feedback. Please feel free to reach me at dan@garagefuse.com regarding any questions and/or comments you may have.
