GarageFuse is an online automotive platform that features proprietary 3D technology, giving enthusiasts and consumers the ability to modify digital vehicles in a completely new fashion within the automotive industry. Users can create their own profile, explore and modify true 3D vehicles with our selection of parts, and share their custom configurations with their friends. A true GearHead's dream!
Existing configurators (like one you would see on any car manufactuer's website) essentially run 2D rendering engines. A combination of source photography and Alpha models are used to deliver high quality images to the consumers screen. GarageFuse technology utilizes a 3D engine which renders polygons instead of those composite images. These polygons, hundreds of thousands of them, comprise of each vehicle you see on the platform. Unlike existing configurators, this is what allows you to rotate your camera on the X, Y, Z axes, open and close doors, and alter the vehicle's appearance.
Once you have completed all three initial registration steps, you will be directed to the "Build Your First 3D Car" page. Here, you are required to enter the Make, Model, Year, and Color (along with other additional information) of the 3D vehicle you would like to use. Once completed, you may click the "Go to Configurator" button. After loading is completed, your vehicle will appear ready to use. Additionally, you may also access the configurator from the "My Cars" page.
The configurator takes a lot of rendering power to run at optimal efficiency. Because we're running 3D models instead of images, just like your typical configurator, it may take time to load and run smoothly.
If your system is running the GarageFuse configurator below 20 frames per second (FPS), you will see a notice appear on the bottom right corner of your screen titled "Optimize Performance". This tab provides instructions on how you can best optimize your configurator performance. GarageFuse will determine what Operating System (OS) you are running and will supplement the appropriate suggestions in order to improve your experience. Typically, this involves updating your Flash player and graphics drivers.
